Phi Mu is an organization of women which provides personal development, service to others, commitment to excellence,
and lifelong friendship through a shared tradition. The Birmingham Area Phi Mu Alumnae Association was formed in August 2003
by women living in Birmingham, Alabama and surrounding areas.
Letter from the President.
Hello Phi Mu Sisters! My name is Ashley Irwin, and I am the new President of the Birmingham Area Phi Mu Alumnae Chapter. I
am a graduate from the University of Alabama Alpha Zeta Chapter, Pledge Class of 2000. I am so thrilled to be steering this
incredible chapter this year, and look forward to the many exciting events we have planned. Your 2006-07 officers have been
working hard to create more, fun opportunities for you to connect with old sisters and meet new friends from around the Birmingham
area. Our hope is for a committed chapter that reaches out to both the local collegiate chapters Alpha Gamma and Kappa Chi
(Samford University and University of Montevallo), as well as our National philanthropy Children’s Miracle Network.
We have ideas for new fundraisers and events, but we are only as strong as our members. Also, the chapter can be a way to
meet people around the city, a social gathering or a networking opportunity. Whatever it is, we hope that you will join us
for lunch, dinner, happy hour or one of the events to see how the chapter can benefit you or how you can benefit the chapter.

Recruitment Information
Rush is upon us and we would like to collect some goodies for our collegiate sisters.
They really appreciate when we do this, so let’s make every effort to show our support!
Montevallo rush dates are Sept 7 – 11 and Samford’s are Sept 15 – 19. We will begin collecting items now
and make deliveries right before rush begins for each chapter.
If you are able to make a contribution (snacks, sweets, fruit, water, etc.), please call
Sara Horton at 294-0871 or e-mail sara.horton@chsys.org to make arrangements for drop off or pick up.
Please join our chapter for our fun and rewarding social and philanthropic
events scheduled throughout the year.
